Auto Racing

Drews Enterprises was part sponsor of the AV Racing Team's #86 car for the later part of the 1998 racing season at the now-closed Flemington Speedway. The #86 car ran in the Tar Car division. Drews Enterprises continued its involvment in racing as a part sponsor of the Driving Force Motor Sports car #9 that ran at Flemington Speedway during part of the 1999 racing season.
For the 2000 racing season the Drews Enterprises name was on the #9 car of Driving Force Motor Sports, and also on the #15B car of DeRosa Racing. The #9 car will be driven by Joe Torchia Jr, and the #15B car will be driven by Marc Rogers. The 2000 season saw two wins at Flemington Speedway by the DeRosa Racing 15B car. There is not much in this world that equals the thrill of victory lane
With the closure of Flemington Speedway at the end of the 2000 season, the track at which either Marc or Joe would compete for 2001 was in question. For 2001, Marc returned to driving the Rogers Racing #44 car. In the end, they both ran at Mahoning Valley Speedway, Wall Stadium or Mountain Speedway. It was a season of long hauls for the teams, and long drives for the sponsor. There were no wins for the 2000 season, but some good competition.
For the 2002 season, both the #44 and the #9 car are competing at Wall Township Speedway. There have been some cold Saturday nights as well as some warm ones. Marc has a few heat race wins and one feature win. The 44 car has been running into some bad racing luck with some early race knock-outs. Fortunately, the Driving Force Motor Sports #9 car has been offered to Marc as a substitute car while the #44 car undergoes repairs. Some motor problems have kept the #44 out of the feature races for the past few weeks, but it should be back by mid August.
The #9 car ran a number of feature races, driven by Joe Torchia Jr during the 2002 season. Circumstances caused the car to be pulled from competition recently, and sold by its owner. Drews Enterprises wishes the new owner the best of luck with the car. We look forward to possibly sponsoring a Driving Force Motor Sports entry in the future.

One side note. If you ever thought that wearing a seatbelt was not important, take a look at this picture of the 15B after it hit the first turn wall at Flemington Speedway (conservative lap speeds at that track for the Modifieds were 120 MPH). Marc was bruised but okay, and walked away from the crash.
Giving back
Drews Enterprises has prospered because of hard work and the break when it was needed. I am committed to giving back some of what society has provided to me. To that end, I have gotten involved with providing decent used computers to those who cannot afford to purchase a new computer. The machines are distributed through Resurrection Lutheran Church in New Haven, CT. For many of these folks, the machine they will get will be the first computer they really have a chance to work on. If you, or your company, are in the process of upgrading your computers, and are interested in seeing them put to good use (other than as landfill material), please contact me for further information. If you have software which you are no longer using, and have legitimate license to (not prior versions that you have since upgraded), and the original install disks, this can be useful as well. Recent contributions from individuals as well as companies are greatly appreciated.
Building community
In addition to working to get computers into the hands of those who don't have the resouces to purchase them. I have spent most of my Saturdays for the past few years giving a helping hand to providing housing for those who cannot afford decent housing. This is done as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Newark. If you have some skills in the area of construction, and are interested in helping out, please contact me for additional information. You may also visit Habitat for Humanity Newark's web site.
Thanks for looking in,
